Fr. John Celebrates 5o years in the priesthood

On Pentacost Sunday, May 24, 2015 Fr. John Gouger, C.Ss.R. SK and member of Council 14700, celebrated 50 years in the priesthood.
Following the Sunday Masses a parish picnic was held in his honor at Zimmer Park.

Born in Iowa, he attended Redemptorist Seminaries in Missouri and Wisconsin. During his years of priesthood he has ministered in Louisiana, Missouri, Wisconsin, Nebraska and Amazonas, Brazil, for 30 years and now is parochial vicar at Holy Ghost parish.

His favorite memory of the last 50 years is "traveling up and down the Amazon River in Brazil in a house boat with Luiz the motorist and a team of lay men and women; visiting rmote communities and celebrating the Mass, baptisms, confirmations and marriages with the rural folks".
